Did you know you can use an empty soda can as a form for a polymer clay bangle bracelet? It’s actually the exact size of most commercial bracelets, and being metal, allows baked clay to slide off (though forewarning: it will be a tight fit, so it won’t exactly fall off).

So this is one of those things I made on v day that I said I would post yesterday but didn’t. I turned this into a pin and plan to sell it on etsy. I also made several more like this but I don’t know what to do with them yet. I’m thinking the small ones will be rings. :)
Just made this last night! Ah, I’m so glad I have my clay stuff at school with me now. I missed it.
I had leftover black gold-foil clay (yeah, take a sheet of black clay, put gold foil over it, and then just mix it in… it looks amazing) from a cuff I made, and decided to make a dragon out of it. Thus the night dragon was born, and put on a hair comb, cause you know, I didn’t know what to do with her, and I thought a dragon comb would be awesome.
Anyway, this is for sale on my etsy:
Today I’d like to talk about tools. Specifically, polymer clay extruders! Now the extruder is a tool that every polymer clay artist/crafter should have in their arsenal, but know that all are not created equal! One of the more important features to look at in choosing an extruder is the method of operation; you do NOT want one with a syringe-style plunger! Think about it: polymer clay is a thick plastic that you’re trying to force through a small die. Trying to force that with only the force you can apply with your thumb is futile! Getting one with a crank-style operator, while more expensive, is a much more effective application of force, and thus will save you valuable time, energy, and blisters! So when choosing a clay extruder, stay away from the simple plunger styles and splurge for one with some sort of crank, screw, or other similar mechanism.
